Always had a bit of Peter Pan...

I was the last kid I know to give up Legos.  I still enjoy playing with miniatures, and until recently had a secret collection of Matchbox cars.

Yet, today I've been discussing the possibilities of buying a house with my fiance Emily.  Because we're saving for our wedding we're actually looking at Lease Purchase Options right now, and we're seriously thinking of breaking our current Rental lease to do so almost immediately.

This grew out of a conversation we had about the needs of our dog Belle.  She really needs a backyard.  Our walking her isn't really enough.  =P

We also need to get back into owning and not renting.

The other thing that got me thinking about growing up, being an adult, and putting away childish things was the photo of my daughter here on my desk.  She's almost Four, and I'm almost ready to put her into a school.  I've been looking at charter schools in and around where we want to live, and I'm rather impressed actually.  There are several excellent schools in our area and that makes me happy.

I am seriously not wanting to put my daughter in a public school.  Public Elementary schools were the locations of some of my worst academic experiences in my life.  My daughter is too smart to let that go to waste.  You're all probably going, "Yeah, right Ben, everyone says their kid is smart," but I'm not joking, she is spooky smart.  She's 3 1/2 and she's already able to do so much and learn so much.  She's crazy articulate and incredibly perceptive.

So know I feel older and older and more adult, and here I thought I was never going to be a Grey Face/Autumn person.

Got to re-think this whole parent paradigm.
