From Anon-DIT.com:

I had cold soup today, and the restaurant comped it. I thought it was really gracious and it really made my day. I just wanted to let you guys know, that it all isn't doom and gloom around here and I just feel really cool about it. Thanks.

One of the first comments from mr_bunny:

I broke an 8 year olds knuckles with a hammer because his ball landed in my yard.

The world is a wonderful place.

"I've been laid off before," smiled the long-haired maitre'de as he quickly scribbled his signature over the ticket for my comped lunch. "Don't worry about it, we've all been there, it's like kissing or wrecking your car. It's not so much about whether you've done either, but how well you did during and after, sorry about the soup being cold."

I was still too numb from the lay-offs to do more than mumble, "Thanks," and nod, but when I leaned back in my chair I felt the caress of the warm sun against my cheek, and I closed my eyes and sighed.

The dappled shadows seemed to dance across the blood splattered lawn in time to the soft plucking of, "Over the Rainbow," on a ukulele. My claw hammer and the retreating wails of fear brought a smile to my lips as I ran my fingers along the dusty leather baseball.
